A Common Table

  • Broadacres Park

A Common Table brings together diverse professional artists, skilled home cooks, and hundreds of community members to explore the informal art of shared hospitality: the picnic. Artists, cooks and community members from a variety of cultural backgrounds will experiment with picnicking as a global cultural form through visual, environmental, performing and (of course) culinary arts. Collaborative art workshops for community members and a series of free, small-scale performative picnics will lead to a final large-scale event. Through these shared activities we'll explore the potential of Broadacres Park as a meeting place for newcomers and refugees, many of whom are bringing picnicking traditions from around the world.
