Mabelle Youth and Farah

The past two months at MABELLEarts have been short but exciting. They have been full of events, adventures and opportunities.

New youth joined our team as volunteers to participate in our MABELLE Youth Leaders: Building Bridges of Celebration project in which I helped lead MABELLE youth in discussing different ways of celebrating Ramadan and act as hosts at our Iftar Nights.

I got to be on CBC Metro Radio as well as Ryerson University’s radio show the Scoop. I was also featured in the news by CBC and the Etobicoke Guardian, met the Mayor of Toronto and got to travel to the Evergreen Brickworks as part of Jumblies Theatre’s Four Lands Project and the Touching Ground Festival.

I’m excited to see what the rest of the summer brings!

Farah came to Canada from Jordan 11 years ago and settled in the Mabelle neighbourhood.  Farah and her whole family got involved in MABELLEarts months after coming to Canada and stayed involved. In 2015, Farah began working as a MABELLEarts summer student through the federal government's Summer Student program and has worked as our summer student ever since.
